Troy Volleyball Drops In-State Match Against South Alabama

MOBILE, Alabama – The Troy volleyball team dropped a three set match to South Alabama on Saturday at Jaguar Gymnasium in Mobile, Ala.
In the first set, the Trojans (6-15, 0-5 Sun Belt) went back and fourth with South Alabama (10-8, 1-4 Sun Belt). The set saw six ties and three lead changes. Troy fell behind early, but used a 7-1 run to take an 11-10 lead midway through the set and maintained the lead until the Jaguars tied it up at 24 and eventually went on to win 27-25.
Troy fell behind early in the second and third sets and were outscored 50-36 in the two sets. The Trojans lost the second 25-20 and fell in the third 25-16.
TURNING POINT
South Alabama ended the third set on a 10-3 run, including scoring the final five points in the match. In the 10-3 run, Troy committed seven attack errors and didn't have a kill.
STAT OF THE MATCH
Each team had 30 digs, but Troy had 19 attack errors in the match. Troy hit .333 in the first set and only had six attack errors. The second and third set saw a combined 13 attack errors, including nine in the third set.
NOTEWORTHY
• Symone Shaw led the team with eight kills and had a .222 hitting percentage.
• Logan Page continued her success and had seven kills and four block in the match for the second consecutive match.
• Reina Terry led all players with 19 assists.
UP NEXT
Troy will look to rebound in Trojan Arena on Tuesday night against Florida A&M. The match is the first of three at home for the Trojans. First serve against the Rattlers is slated for 6 p.m.
