TROY, Alabama – Former Troy pitcher, Jaycee Affeldt, will join the Troy coaching staff as a volunteer assistant coach after a four-year playing career with the Trojans, head coach Beth Mullins announced Thursday.
Â
"I am extremely excited to add Jaycee to our staff this season," Mullins said. "She is a Troy grad, knows and loves the game and is just an overall winner."Â Â Â Â
Â
Affeldt is coming off a brilliant senior season where she was named Sun Belt Conference Pitcher of the Year and to the All-Sun Belt First Team. Additionally, she was named to the Capital One Academic All-District First Team and the NFCA South All-Region Third Team.
Â
"I'm so thankful to be given the opportunity to be the volunteer assistant at my alma mater and the place where I had some of the best memories of my life," Affeldt said. "It will be an invaluable experience to learn the game from such a knowledgeable coaching staff, and I look forward to being able to help the program and the players continue to grow on the field and in the Troy community."
Â
In her final season at Troy, the Trojans finished 32-23 overall and 14-9 in the Sun Belt. Affeldt posted a 2.65 ERA and struck out 150 batters in 182.1 innings of work, which was the second most in the Sun Belt in 2015. She tied for second in the conference with 17 wins and three saves. Affeldt also struck out a career-high 14 batters against Georgia Tech.
Â
Affeldt appeared in the circle 130 times, starting 74 of those times and tossing 32 complete games in her career as a Trojan. She picked up her first career win against Kansas in 2012 at the Southeastern Louisiana Lions Classic pitching 6.1 innings.
Â
A native of Maple Ridge, British Columbia, Affeldt graduated from Troy in 2015 with a bachelor's degree in broadcast journalism.
