Troy’s Jaycee Affeldt Named to Capital One Academic All-District First Team

TROY, Alabama – Troy University senior Jaycee Affeldt has been named to Capital One Academic All-District First Team, the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) announced Thursday.
The Capital One Academic All-District Teams recognize the nation's top student-athletes for their combined performances athletically and in the classroom.
Affeldt, who was named the Sun Belt Conference Pitcher of the Year, has a 3.91 GPA in broadcast journalism and finished her career second all-time in Troy history in strikeouts with 442. The native of Maple Ridge, British Columbia finished the 2015 season 17-11 with a 2.65 ERA and 150 strikeouts over 182.1 innings pitched.
To be eligible for academic all-district teams, student athletes must be starters or important reserves with at least 3.30 cumulative grade-point averages. Candidates also must complete at least one fully academic year at the nominating institution and be at least sophomores athletically.
Affeldt will be on of just two pitchers representing District 4 on the All-America ballot. District 4 is comprised of schools in Alabama, Florida, Georgia and South Carolina.
