Former Trojan Clint Robinson Makes Nationals Opening Day Roster

TROY, Alabama – Former Troy standout Clint Robinson will open the 2015 Major League Baseball season on the Washington Nationals' 25-man roster.

Robinson, 30, batted .320 with two home runs and eight RBIs in spring training. He was a non-roster invitee after signing a minor league contract with the Nationals in December.

"We're extremely excited for Clint," Troy head coach Bobby Pierce said. "He has worked extremely hard to get where he is today. He was a special player at Troy and has proven that he can play baseball at the highest professional level."

The left-handed batter was a .331 career hitter with 37 home runs and 178 RBIs in his time at Troy. He is second in Troy history in career hits (253) and runs scored (168); he was named an All-American in 2007.

The Dothan, Alabama, native spent eight seasons in the minors. He got his first major league action in 2012 while with the Kansas City Royals. After stints with the Pittsburgh Pirates and Toronto Blue Jays organizations, Robinson signed with the Los Angeles Dodgers. He was 3-for-9 with two RBIs in nine games with the club.
