Inaugural Trojan Tribute Award Show set for Tuesday

TROY, Alabama – The inaugural Trojan Tribute Award Show will take place Tuesday evening in the Claudia Crosby Theater. Awards will be handed out to student-athletes in 16 different categories; show time is set for 7 p.m.

Award Nominees (Awards were based on the 2014 Calendar Year; Spring Sports Were Based on 2014 Season)

Steve Dennis Strength of Character Award – This award is given to a student-athlete who embodies the Trojan spirit of strength and resiliency
Ethan Davis – Football
Kelley Curran – Volleyball
Brandon Timmons – Football

Male Rookie of the Year – Best performance by a first-year male student-athlete (freshman or transfer)
Wesley Person – Basketball
Marc Skinner – Baseball
Gabriel Dias – Tennis

Female Rookie of the Year – Best performance by a first-year female student-athlete (freshman or transfer)
Fátima Fernández Cano – Golf
Trang Huynh – Tennis
Mikki Lewis - Soccer

Male Heart of a Warrior – This award is given to a male student-athlete who has overcome hardships but still has been successful academically and athletically
Grant Bennett – Baseball
Chase Waters - Cheerleading
Justin Fuller – Football

Female Heart of a Warrior – This award is given to a female student-athlete who has overcome hardships but still has been successful academically and athletically
Aissata Maiga – Basketball
Trang Huynh – Tennis
Mallory JayJohn – Cheerleading
Kailani Decock – Soccer

Male Athlete of the Year – Most outstanding athletic performance by a male student-athlete
Marc Skinner – Baseball
Ben Martin – Track & Field
Jared Bettcher – Golf

Female Athlete of the Year – Most outstanding athletic performance by a female student-athlete
Fátima Fernández Cano – Golf
Ronita Garrett – Basketball
Trang Huynh – Tennis

Jadarius Garner Total Trojan Award – This award is given to an individual who is excelling both on and off the field.
Chandler Worthy – Football
Aissata Maiga – Women's Basketball

"T" Time Team Award – Team with the best performance

Director of Athletics Trojan Way Leadership Award - The highest honor of the night is given to the student-athlete who is the epitome of a Troy student-athlete and is the true definition a student-athlete leader not only at Troy but also in our community
