TROY, Alabama – The Troy fans have spoken and with over 16,000 votes counted in the 2015 Troy Football Top Play bracket, Jed Solomon's onside kick at Appalachian State took home the top prize.
Solomon's kick was recovered by Jalen Harris as head coach Neal Brown called for the surprise attempt to open the second half. The Trojans scored four plays later to tie the game at 17-all. Troy took Appalachian State to triple overtime before falling to the 11-win team by three points.
The onside kick dominated the Top Play bracket throughout winning by margins of 78-22 percent in the opening round, 73-27 percent in the semifinal and 66-34 percent in the championship.
