TROY, Alabama – Troy softball head coach Beth Mullins announced Friday the signing of five prep standouts to National Letters of Intent. The five student-athletes will join the Trojans beginning with the 2016 season.
Â
"We are thrilled to welcome these five talented student-athletes into the Troy softball family," Mullins said. "These five young ladies bring a lot of talent and will make an immediate impact when they step on campus next fall."
Â
Mullins' first signing class as Troy's head coach consists of Peyton Glover from Grayson (Ga.) High School; Claire Graves from Southside (Ala.) High School, Kaylee Hussey from Enterprise (Ala.) High School, Amber Jones from Etowah (Ala.) High School and Stephanie Snyder from Grayson (Ga.) High School.
Â
Glover enters her senior season at Grayson High School with her name already littered throughout the school's record book. She currently ranks fifth all-time in wins, fourth in strikeouts, fifth in innings pitched and third in home runs. She earned all-county honors as a junior after posting a 9-2 record with 144 strikeouts and a 2.40 ERA in 107 innings pitched.
Â
Last season, Glover threw a no-hitter against Region 8-AAAAAA rival Central Gwinnett. She struck out 11 batters during her no-hitter and picked up a pair of hits and two RBIs at the plate. As a sophomore, Glover struck out 16 batters in a playoff game against Brookwood; Grayson has advanced to the Sweet 16 in each of Glover's three seasons.
Â
Graves enters her senior season at Southside High School coming off back-to-back all-state selections. As a junior, Graves helped lead the Panthers to a 40-7 record after posting a 1.30 ERA and 100 strikeouts in just 82 innings pitched.
Â
In addition to her two all-state honors, Graves has earned all-area and all-county distinction in three consecutive seasons and was named the area MVP following her junior season. She struck out 287 batters and posted a 1.57 ERA over 204 innings as a junior as Southside advanced to the Alabama Elite 8. Graves holds Southside's strikeout record and earned all-state honors in javelin as a junior.
Â
Hussey enters her senior season at Enterprise High School as a career .400 hitter with 18 home runs. She has earned a trio of Silver Slugger Awards and has thrown out 95 percent of potential base stealers.
Â
As a junior, Hussey hit .399 (61-of-153) to go along with three home runs, 16 doubles, 25 RBIs and a .452 on-base percentage. The Wildcats have won three straight area championships during Hussey's career and have advanced to the regional tournament each season.
Â
Hussey was selected to play in the North/South All-Star Game this past summer and in the Top 100 Softball Showcase the previous summer. She plays for the Alabama Fury travel ball team.
Â
Jones enters her senior season at Etowah High School after earning all-area honors each of her first three seasons for the Blue Devils. She was selected to play in the North/South All-Star Game after batting .400 with 40 runs scored, 31 stolen bases in 33 attempts, a .592 slugging percentage, a .478 on-base percentage and a 1.070 OPS as a junior.
Â
Jones holds the Etowah school record with 14 career home runs with one season still remaining to play in her high school career. As a sophomore, Jones posted a .309 batting average to go along with 22 runs scored and a .744 OPS.
Â
Snyder enters her senior season at Grayson High School coming off a season where she earned all-state honors after she hit .374 with four home runs and posted a .570 on-base percentage. Snyder's sophomore season was even better as she posted a .578 batting average to go along with eight home runs, 17 doubles, a .622 on-base percentage, .981 slugging percentage and 1.602 OPS.
Â
She earned all-county and all-region honors as a sophomore and was named the Grayson High School Player of the Year. To go along with her all-state honors as a junior, Snyder was named to the Gwinnett Daily Post "Super 6". Her sophomore season numbers set Grayson single-season records for batting average, home runs, doubles, hits, runs scored, on-base percentage and slugging percentage.
