Affeldt Earns Senior Athlete of the Year Honors

TROY, Ala. – Troy junior pitcher Jaycee Affeldt has been honored by Softball British Columbia as the Senior Athlete of the Year for the province.
The award is given annually to a high-achieving athlete from British Columbia that demonstrates excellence on the field, as well as in areas of sportsmanship and team commitment and involvement.
Affeldt saw tremendous success at the 2013 Canada Summer games, where she helped lead Team BC to its fourth consecutive gold medal in softball. Affeldt finished the tournament with a 1.79 ERA and 33 strikeouts in five appearances.
Affeldt began the summer by helping Team BC win the Canadian Open in mid-July, defeating the Quebec Rebelles 11-4 in the championship game. She hit .333 in the Open and drove in seven runs. In the circle, Affeldt finished 2-1 with a 0.91 ERA, two complete games and 27 strikeouts.
The fall season for the Trojans is already underway and continues on Wednesday, October 9, against Central Alabama at 5 p.m., at the Troy Sportsplex. Troy will then take on Wallace Dothan and Southern Union in a double-header on Friday beginning at 3:30 p.m.
