2012 Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony Gallery
TROY, Ala. – Troy University inducted 11 of the greatest men and women in Troy history into the Troy University Sports Hall of Fame in a ceremony Friday. The ceremony to induct the inaugural class was the first event held in state-of-the-art Trojan Arena.
The class consisted of Ralph Adams (administration), Billy Atkins (football), Larry Blakeney (football), Sim Byrd (football), Don Maestri (men's basketball), Vergil Parks McKinley (football), Denise Monroe (women's basketball), Charles Oliver (track & field), Chase Riddle (baseball), Mike Turk (football) and DeMarcus Ware (football).
The ceremony, in front of a sold out gathering of over 600 people, featured comments from Troy University Chancellor Dr. Jack Hawkins, Jr., Andalusia Mayor Earl Johnson and President pro tempore of the Troy University Board of Trustees Gerald O. Dial.
The inductees began their evening with a private viewing of the Troy University Sports Hall of Fame digital displays located adjacent to the rotunda in Trojan Arena. Following a reception, the inductees were enshrined into Troy history forever during the induction ceremony and banquet.
Trojan Arena's two 767-square foot video boards played video tributes for each of the 11 inductees that included comments from either the inductee or their representative.
