O'Mara Named to Venezuelan Staff

TROY, Ala. - Troy University assistant softball coach Sharon O'Mara is taking a short break from her duties in Alabama this summer as she has been named the pitching coach for the Venezuela National Team at this year's World Championships.
O'Mara, who just completed her second season as an assistant for the Trojans, began her month with the Venezuela National Team in Orlando, Fla. this weekend. Venezuela will begin its World Championships tune up this week as they start a five game series against the USSSA Pride of the National Pro Fastpitch league at the UCF Softball Complex.
From June 15-June 20 the team will play in the Venezuela International Series, a tournament featuring Venezuela, Cuba, Netherlands and New Zealand.
The World Championships will begin on June 23 in the Venezuelan capital of Caracas. The 16 team tournament is the premier national team event in the world. The tournament features top teams such as the United Stats, Australia, Canada and Japan.
