Trojans Looking to Rebound on the Road

BOCA RATON, Fla. - The Troy Trojans softball team will look to end a four game losing streak when they travel to Florida Atlantic this weekend for their third consecutive road Sun Belt series.
The Trojans and Owls will play two games on Saturday with the first beginning at 5:00 p.m. CT. The two teams will close out the three game series with a single contest at 12:00 noon CT on Sunday.
The Trojans (19-19, 7-6) will look to get back on track as they enter the weekend having dropped four straight contests, including three at WKU last weekend. After a strong 14-6 start in their first 20 games, the Trojans have gone 5-13 in the last 18.
Ashlyn Williams (15-14) paces the Trojans pitching staff with a 15-14 record in 31 appearances, including 22 complete games and five shutouts. Williams has posted 282 strikeouts in 2010, the highest total in the Sun Belt and the second highest mark in the nation. She is also just 31 away from breaking the school record of 312 which Williams set herself last season.
Offensively, Kala Moore leads the Trojans with a .336 batting average from her leadoff position. The senior shortstop is 23-26 in stolen bases this season, which is tops in the Sun Belt, including 12-12 in Sun Belt games.
Troy's biggest power threat is Hayden Gann who leads the team with five home runs and a .558 slugging percentage, she is also tied for the team lead with 22 RBI.
The Owls (20-18, 5-4) enter the weekend after taking two out of three from South Alabama last weekend. Florida Atlantic has won four of its last six including another series win over North Texas.
The Owls are led in the circle by senior Kathryn Stauffer (7-3) who enters with the Sun Belt's best ERA at 1.11 in 11 appearances with eight complete games and five shutouts.
Offensively, Co-Preseason Player of the Year Blair Bodenmiller leads the Owls with a .309 batting average, five home runs and 13 RBI. She is the only Owl hitting over .300.
Florida Atlantic leads the all-time series over Troy 22-11. The two teams split four games in 2009 with the Owls defeating the Trojans 6-4 in the Sun Belt Tournament.
