SKILLMAN, N.J. - Despite seeing their 11-match winning streak come to an end, the Troy University men's tennis team continued to make strides in the ITA Tennis poll released this afternoon.
Troy (16-4) continues to climb the national rankings, moving up three places this week after a second place finish in the Sun Belt Shootout at the Lunsford Tennis Complex. The Trojans are currently ranked 62nd in the country with a rating of 8.91. The Trojans remain just one of two teams from the Sun Belt Conference in this week's poll, joining 30th-ranked Denver - the winner of the Sun Belt Shootout - in the top 100.
The Trojans have also played a trio of other teams currently ranked in the top 100, including 17th-ranked Mississippi, 37th-ranked Auburn University and 54th-ranked University of South Carolina Upstate - a team whom the Trojans defeated earlier this season.
Troy returns to action April 10 on the road against Florida A&M looking for their 17th victory and their 12th victory in 13 matches, as well as climbing in the national rankings.
The Trojans have just four more weeks left in the national rankings, and if they can maintain a ranking in the top 64 they will receive a bid to the NCAA National Indoor Championships next season. However, they also have the Sun Belt Conference Tournament at the end of the month with a bid to the NCAA National Outdoor Championships on the line for this spring.
