Trojans Ready for Final Home Series

TROY, Ala. - The Troy Trojans softball team will play host to Louisiana-Lafayette this weekend in a three game Sun Belt series beginning Saturday.
Saturday's games will be televised on CSS/CST with game one airing live at 3:00 p.m. and game two being shown later on a tape delay. The Trojans and Cajuns will conclude the series with a single game at 1:00 p.m. on Sunday.
Saturday's televised matchup will mark the second time this season a Trojan softball game will be aired live. The Trojans doubleheader with Hawaii on March 10 was aired on the islands.
Sunday's game can be heard on WTBF AM-970 with a 12:45 p.m. air time.
The Trojans (23-23, 9-9) enter the weekend after a doubleheader sweep of Florida A&M on Wednesday.
Troy is led by junior pitcher Ashlyn Williams who comes in with the fourth most strikeouts in the country with 331. The Hattiesburg, Miss. native is 17-17 in 36 appearances with 25 complete games and five shutouts. She enters with a 1.56 ERA in Sun Belt games.
Troy's offense starts at the top with senior shortstop Kala Moore. The Verbena, Ala. native leads the team with a .351 batting average and 31 runs scored. She also leads the club with 28 stolen bases in 31 attempts. Moore is Troy's career leader in steals and is a perfect 13-13 in Sun Belt games and 18 for her last 18.
Hayden Gann and Courtney Cherry represent Troy's power threats as each has blasted five home runs and the two have combined for 47 RBI. The two also have an identical on-base percentage of .382.
The Cajuns (31-14, 12-3) come in at the top of the Sun Belt standings and winners of their last eight games, including seven straight Sun Belt games. ULL swept Florida Atlantic at home on Tuesday and Wednesday.
The Cajuns are hitting .306 as a team with Vallie Gaspard setting the pace with a .426 average. Christi Orgeron and Gabriele Bridges pose the Cajuns power threat with a combined 27 home runs and 88 RBI.
ULL's pitching staff enters with a 2.46 ERA. Donna Bourgeois is 16-8 in 24 starts with five shutouts while Brittany Cuevas is 15-6 in 21 starts with five shutouts.
This weekend's series will mark the last home games of 2010 for the Trojans, meaning Troy's two seniors, Moore and Rocky Paige, will be honored before Sunday's game for their four years in the Trojan uniform.
