Trojans Set for Three Non-Conference Games

The Troy Trojans softball team will take a break from Sun Belt Conference play this week when they travel to Tuscaloosa, Ala. to take on Alabama on Tuesday before returning home to host Florida A&M on Wednesday.
The Trojans will make the trip to Tuscaloosa, Ala. on Tuesday to take on the Crimson Tide for the second straight season. Troy will be faced with a tough task as Alabama currently sits as the fifth ranked team in the country. First pitch is set for 6:00 p.m.
After the one game road trip, Troy will return home for a doubleheader against Florida A&M on Wednesday. The Trojans and Lady Rattlers have already met once this season with Florida A&M taking a 5-4 decision at the UCF Invitational in Orlando, Fla. on February 20.
First pitch of game one between Troy and Florida A&M is set for 2:00 p.m. from the Trojan Softball Complex.

THE TROJANS (21-22)
Troy enters Tuesday's contest after dropping two of three to Sun Belt foe North Texas this weekend.
The Trojans are led by junior pitcher Ashlyn Williams who has posted a 17-16 record in 35 appearances, 29 of them starts. The Hattiesburg, Miss. native has thrown 25 complete games and five shutouts. Her 328 strikeouts is a new Troy single season record and she is just 57 K's away from 1,000 for her career in this just her junior season.
The Trojans come in hitting .262 as a team with senior shortstop Kala Moore leading the squad with a .343 average. The Verbena, Ala. native also leads the team with 29 runs scored and 24 stolen bases in 27 attempts.
Sophomore Hayden Gann leads the Trojans with five home runs, 23 RBI and a .513 slugging percentage.
THE CRIMSON TIDE (35-9)
The Crimson Tide enter the contest ranked fifth in both the NFCA/USA Today and ESPN.com/USA Softball polls. Alabama has won its last 11 contests and hasn't lost since March 28 to No.3 Florida.
The Crimson Tide are hitting .307 as a team with freshman Kayla Braud leading the way with a .480 batting average. Senior Charlotte Morgan leads the squad with 13 home runs, 52 RBI and an .800 slugging percentage.
The Crimson Tide have a team ERA of 2.62, and junior ace Kelsi Dunne enters with a 20-4 record in 29 appearance and a 2.14 ERA.
THE LADY RATTLERS (21-18)
Florida A&M will enter Wednesday's contest after losing two out of three to North Carolina A&T in a MEAC series.
The Lady Rattlers are hitting .251 as a team and are led by Melissa Oliphant who is hitting .351. Oliphant also leads the club with seven home runs and 27 RBI.
Florida A&M's pitching staff is anchored by Amanda Reyes. Reyes is 13-10 in 28 appearances with a 2.20 ERA. She has thrown 16 complete games and has 156 strikeouts compared to 43 walks. Opponents are hitting .208 against her.
