NEW ORLEANS - Hayden Gann has been named Sun Belt Conference Player of the Week for her efforts in the Trojans series win over FIU this weekend.
Gann hit a three-run home run in the deciding third game. The three-run shot, in a game in which the Trojans won by two runs, was the difference and gave Troy the early Sun Belt lead.
The sophomore also connected with a double and scored a run in Troy's 8-3 win in the first game of the series. The Hoover, Ala. native also drew two walks on the weekend.
Gann sits second on the team thus far this season with three home runs and 19 RBI. She is also one of four Trojans hitting over .300 with a .313 batting average. Gann leads the club with a .542 slugging percentage. Gann also leads the team with her current 80 games played streak.
Lindsey Vander Lugt of Middle Tennessee was named Sun Belt Conference Pitcher of the Week.
The Trojans will be back in action on Wednesday when they host South Alabama in Troy's first ever "Strikeout Cancer" game. First pitch is set for 5:00 p.m. and all fans are encouraged to wear pink in an effort to raise breast cancer awareness.
