TROY, Ala. - The Troy University men's tennis team cracked the ITA tennis rankings for the first time this season, and the first time in eight years on Tuesday.
Troy (5-2) won their first three matches of the season before falling to two nationally-ranked opponents, then reeled off back-to-back victories over the weekend in South Carolina. One of those victories came against then-70th ranked USC Upstate on Saturday afternoon.
The Trojans enter the rankings this week 72nd, and are one of three Sun Belt Conference teams in the poll which ranks the top 75 programs of over 300 programs in the country. Troy is joined by the University of Denver (49th) and Middle Tennessee State University (64th) in this week's rankings.
Troy has played a pair of teams still ranked in this week's poll, in the University of Mississippi (11th) and Auburn University (35th). The Trojans return to action on Friday, as they host Winthrop University on Friday and Louisiana-Lafayette on Saturday at the Lunsford Tennis Complex.
