Trojans Upset Upstate

SPARTANBURG, S.C. - The Troy University men's tennis team pulled their first upset of the season of a nationally-ranked opponent, downing 73rd-ranked Upstate 4-3 on the road Saturday afternoon.
Troy (4-2) ended a two-match skid against nationally-ranked opponents, although they lost the doubles point to the Spartans to open the match. The Trojans fell at both number one and number two doubles to start the match, heading into singles play down 1-0.
The Upstate team of Renzo Airaldi and Javier Tori defeated the Troy team of Luis Henrique Grangeiro and Mario Rolemberg 8-6; while the number two team of Edgar Rodriguez and Ramiro Blanco defeated the Trojan team of Branko Weber and Xavier Masson 9-7 to clinch the point.
Although they lost the doubles point, the number three team of Guilherme Sahadi and Anas Rouchdi defeated the Upstate team of Jack Roux and Gary Goudsmet 8-5.
In singles play, the Trojans claimed four victories while only dropping two for the final score.
Grangeiro picked up a 6-4, 7-5 victory at number one over Renzo Airaldi, while at number three Weber defeated Edgar Rodriguez 6-3, 1-6, 7-5 (clinching match). At number four Anas Rouchdi defeated Gary Goudsmet 7-5, 6-3; while at number six Xavier Masson defeated Ramiro Blanco 3-6, 6-2, 6-2.
