Trojans Close Season Out With Victory Over Florida Atlantic

BOCA RATON, Fla. - The Troy University Trojans volleyball ended their 2010 season Saturday afternoon with a Sun Belt Conference victory over the Owls of Florida Atlantic 3-0 (25-17, 25-16, 25-23) on the road.
Troy was led on the afternoon by junior Natasha Kolunija with a career-high 19 kills and a .368 attack percentage. Meanwhile, junior Brittany McClelland recorded 10 kills and a .333 attack percentage for the Trojans in the match.
The first set was close throughout the first points, but at 8-all Troy was able to spark a rally that would bring them to victory. On the hills of senior server Megan Henderson, the Trojans scored eight straight points with kills from McClelland, Kolunija, and two service aces from Henderson. Troy would go on to take the set victory from the Owls.
In the second set, the Trojans were able to take an early lead with kills from McClelland and Kolunija. Florida Atlantic did not go away, and came back to tie Troy at 4-all. This would be as close as the Owls would get to the lead in the set. A service ace from freshman Courtney Cohen and kills from McClelland and Henderson soared the Trojans on to their second set victory.
In the third set, the Owls took the early lead, but kills from Kolunija and sophomore Devin Von Pingel tied the set at 5-all. The set went on to be tied 14 times, before the Trojans were finally able to pull away with the set and match victory at 23-all with kills from Von Pingel and McClelland.
