Troy softball is gearing up for Spookfest which takes place in two weeks
Spookfest Information/Team Application
With the fall season drawing to a close on Wednesday, the Troy University softball team is gearing up for another function off the playing field. The Trojans will host the Spook-fest Team Camp and Tournament over Halloween weekend at the Troy Softball Complex and the public is invited.
The camp and tournament will feature teams 12U, 14U, 16U, 18U and junior colleges from around the region competing against each other on Saturday, October 30. Each junior college participating in the tournament will be competing in a separate division from the other age groups, but 16U and 18U teams will have the option of scrimmaging against a junior college team as one of their games.
The format for the weekend is simple, four dead drop and 75 minute games – weather permitting in the area. Every effort will be made to have the teams compete with opponents of similar caliber throughout the day.
In addition to the games on Saturday, the teams will participate in a two-hour camp with Troy University coaches on Sunday, October 31. Instruction will be provided in hitting, fielding and base running. Per NCAA rules, a member institution's sports camp of clinic shall be open to any and all entrants (limited only by number, age, grade level and/or gender.
Additionally throughout the weekend, a Trojan softball player will be assigned to each 12U and 14U team as a “guest” coach, and players will be evaluated on softball skills as part of the tournament's softball Olympics.
