TROY - The Troy Trojans softball team is back in Sun Belt Conference play after a mid-week trip to face the University of Alabama.
The Trojans (28-8, 11-1) are hosting the Florida Atlantic Owls in a three-game series starting Saturday.
“In Sun Belt Conference play each conference series is important,” Trojans head coach Melanie Davis said. “They were a pre-season pick near the top of the league, and they are going to provide a challenge for us.”
The Trojans are looking to extend a four game win streak in the conference, and the team will try to get back on a winning note overall after the Wednesday loss.
“We just have to continue to do the things that have brought us success so far in the league,” Davis said. “That has been quality pitching combined with solid defense and timely hitting.”
The Trojans know the challenges that any Sun Belt team can bring, and they are ready to take on this next phase of their conference stretch.
“We know it's going to be a big challenge, and we're excited about playing at home,” Davis said.
The Owls (19-18, 2-3) enter the game after a mid-week split at South Alabama. The Owls other conference victory came against North Texas over the weekend.
Game times for Saturday are set at 1 and 3 p.m. Sunday's series finale is set for 1 p.m.
