All Good Things Must Come to an End

All good things must come to an end ... except for Rourke, Chase and Reid (but nobody likes Reid anyway!)
After four years of 6 a.m. workouts, shagging balls at the Oaks, waking up at 5:30 to go to another tournament, and countless rounds of qualifying, the lifestyle that Wes Parker and I have grown accustomed to is coming to an end.
The experiences we have encountered will be ones we take with us the rest of our lives. Being around this group of guys is going to be something I miss a great deal. The life we chose to live has become nothing but routine after so many weeks of hard work and dedication to the university, our coach and our community.
But enough about the sad parts ... lets get focused on the positive.
The team we have assembled to compete for a Sun Belt Conference championship is very strong. We have two experienced seniors and three eager underclassmen ready too put everything together and bring home a win.
Reid Merritt, Chase Whitehead, and Rourke van der Spuy have fought hard and worked harder to make this team. As for me and Wes, we have grinded and grinded and grinded to make our possible last tournament for Troy a memorable one. Wes and I began our college careers ages ago with a win at Birmingham Southern and feel that it would be only fitting to win our last one.
We just hope that we have left a legacy of hard work and "never quit" attitudes with the underclassmen and new upcoming freshmen.
As for our time with Coach Matt Terry, it's been like a father-son relationship. You don't always have to agree with him, but you know it's only making you better. We've encountered many highs and lows with him, but I think that's what makes us, as a team, very close.
I truly believe that our camaraderie is the one key factor that could give us an edge over the other teams if we find ourselves with a chance to win on Wednesday.
But until then, much more work has to be done and another chapter in the book of excellence that is Troy Athletics must be written!!
GO TROJANS!!!
