Trojans Ready to Open Sun Belt Tournament

DENTON, Texas ? Both the Troy University men's and women's tennis teams are on the campus of North Texas this weekend for the Sun Belt Conference Tournament.
Both teams enter the tournament playing very well. The women have won nine of their last ten matches. The men are on a similar role, winning six of their last eight, including their last three matches.
The women's squad (12-6) is the fifth seed in the 13 team tournament. They will take on the winner of Florida Atlantic and Western Kentucky on Friday at 11:30 a.m. Florida Atlantic is the 12th seed and Western Kentucky is the 13th seed. The two will play on Thursday at noon.
The Trojans defeated Florida Atlantic 7-0 in February, but the Trojans and Western Kentucky haven't met this season.
The Trojans are led by a trio of seniors. Rawia Elsisi has an 8-8 singles record on the year, all at the number one spot. Annabelle Bares is 8-4 on the year in singles play and Caroline Joaunin is 10-4 in singles on the season. Also, junior Stephanie Vieira has won eight straight singles matches.
The men (8-11) enter the championship as the seven seed. They will take on Florida Atlantic on Friday at 11:30 a.m. The Trojans and Owls have met once already this season with the Owls taking the fifth place match in the Sun Belt Shootout from the Trojans on April 4th.
The Trojans are led by freshman Aurelien Tave at the number one spot. Tave has an 11-6 singles record, including ten matches at the number one spot.
