MIAMI - The Troy Trojans softball team is on the road for a weekend series against the Florida International Golden Panthers, and the Trojans know the task is a tall one.
“FIU is a well coached team with a lot of young talent,” Trojans head coach Melanie Davis said.
The young Golden Panthers (16-17, 0-3) talent fell to the nation's top ranked team, the Florida Gators, by just one run earlier this week.
“They went to Gainesville and played very competitively,” Davis said.
The Trojans are currently on a nine game win streak, and the Trojans will try to continue their success in the series.
FIU enters the series winning four of their last eight games. Two of the four losses came against the Gators.
The Trojans lead the all-time series, but FIU took the series in 2008. The Golden Panthers came to Troy and won two games in the three game series.
The overall series stands at 7-5 in favor of Troy.
“We know we're going to have our hands full,” Davis said. “We have to continue to put all three phases of the game together as we have in our previous Sun Belt series'.”
Game times are set for 3 and 5 p.m. on Saturday. The third game of the series will be played on Sunday at 1 p.m. All times are eastern.
