Murfreesboro, TN - The Troy Trojans softball team completed the series sweep over the Middle Tennessee Blue Raiders on Wednesday with a 7-1 victory.
"Any time you can get a sweep in a conference series, that's always big," Trojans head coach Melanie Davis said. "I'm proud of the team and how they played."
Ashlyn Williams took the mound for the Trojans to start the game. Williams went five innings in the contest. She allowed four hits and a run, and she struck out two batters.
Allison Moore finished the final two innings of the game. Moore struck out four and didn't give up a hit.
Middle Tennessee punched in a run to start the game in the bottom of the first inning, but that would be the only lead the Blue Raiders had in the game.
Troy knocked in two runs in the second and third innings, one run in the fourth, and two more runs in the fifth leading to the final score.
"We hit the ball well today," Davis said. "The bats have been doing a good job for us."
Hayden Gann led all Trojans in the game going three-for-three at the plate. Tasha Elmore was two-for-three on the day, and Hillary Hughes was two-for-four.
Kala Moore, Rocky Paige, Katie Ely, Heidi Johnson, Nikki Hollett, Kaitlin Kenney and Elmore all scored runs for the Trojans.
The Trojans defense held the Blue Raiders to four hits in the game, and that left the series total of hits allowed at just seven.
Troy will be in action at home this weekend with another Sun Belt Conference series against the Warhawks of the University of Louisiana Monroe.
