Troy in Battle for Second After Two Rounds

After a rain delayed first day, the Troy University Men's Invitational Golf Tournament's first two rounds of play came to a close with Troy in a tight battle with Jacksonville University for second place.

The Trojans and Dolphins are tied, with each team's score sitting at 610 heading into Sunday's final round.

Jay Harris and Wes Parker lead the way for the Trojans with overall scores of 150. Parker has turned in two rounds with a score of 75 in each round, while Harris had 76 in the first and 74 in the second.

Chase Whitehead also had a big day for the Trojans adding another score of 150 participating as an individual.

Troy is one of only two schools competing in the tournament to place three or more players in the top 10 through the first two rounds. Troy also had all but two players finish in the top half of the field.

While Troy and Jacksonville battled for second, Mississippi State took a commanding lead through the first two rounds by posting a team score of 582. MSU had great play from the entire team, with all five of the Bulldogs' players finishing or tying for positions in the top five.

While Troy and Jacksonville battle it out for second, Nebraska is only six shots behind in fourth place with a score of 616, well within range of a run at the number two spot.

Nicholls State (628), McNeese State (632), Mobile (636), Centenary (638) and Siena (652) round out the rest of the field.

The third and final round of the Troy University Men's Invitational will begin Sunday morning at 7:30 at Heritage Plantation in Crestview, Florida.
