Trojans Blank Florida Atlantic

BOCA RATON, Fla. - The Troy Trojans started their south Florida swing off in fine fashion, shutting out Florida Atlantic University 7-0 at Patch Reef Park Thursday afternoon.
The Trojans claimed the doubles point quickly, winning all three matches by dropping just five points in those matches.
The team of Rawia Elsisi and Leonie Guijt were the first off the courts for the Trojans as they defeated Florida Atlantic's Dominique Wimmer and Natalia Totevska, 8-1. They were followed quickly by the number two team of Mirte De Bakker and Stephanie Vieira defeated the Owls' team of Danielle Simone and Erika Mrazkova, 8-2.
With the doubles point all ready decided, the number three team of Annabelle Bares and Gabriella Viega defeated Florida Atlantic's Cassie Bergeson and Emma Rossiter, 8-2.
Leading the overall match 1-0, the Trojans needed just three more victores to claim the overall victory.
Guijt was the first player off the courts for the Trojans at number four singles, defeating Florida Atlantic's Virginia Augustin 6-1, 6-3; giving Troy a 2-0 overall lead in the match. The match was extended to 3-0 when Bares won at number two singles, defeating Florida Atlantic's Wimmer 6-0, 6-0.
The Trojans kept rolling on Thursday afternoon when Caroline Jouanin defeated Florida Atlantic's Simone 6-1, 6-3 to give Troy the victory over Florida Atlantic.
With the match all ready decided, Elsisi won next at number one singles over FAU's Totevska 6-3, 0-6, 1-0 (13-11); while Vieria and De Bakker claimed victories at number five and three respectively.
Troy returns to action Friday afternoon against nationally-ranked Florida International University in Miami.
