Trojans Fall in ITA Regionals

AUBURN, Ala. - The 2009 Fall ITA Southern Regionals came to a close for the Troy Trojans on Saturday afternoon, as the remaining members of the team fell in singles and doubles action.
In singles play, Karoline Grymel won her first match of the day when she defeated Jil Hastenrath of Auburn in a hard fought three-set match 6-0, 3-6, 6-2; before falling in her Round of 32 match to Fani Chifchieva of Auburn 6-0, 6-2. Leonie Guijt, also still alive in singles play, fell to conference foe Claire Clark of ULM in the Round of 64; 6-3, 6-2.
Meanwhile, Stephanie Vieira fell in the consolation round to ULM's Monica Winkel 2-6, 6-2, 10-5; while Emma Smith also fell in the consolation round in singles play.
In doubles action, the team of Grymel and Guijt fell in the quarterfinal round to Alabama's Courtney McLane and Alexa Guarachi 8-2.
The fall season has been concluded with the ITA tournament for the Trojans.
