Lady Trojans Ready to Compete

The Lady Trojans are ready to compete! In less than a week, we will finally get the opportunity to put all of our hard work and preparation to the test.
Qualifying was completed on Tuesday and the following girls will be traveling to Macon, Georgia, for the East-A-Peach Classic: Liz Balkcom, Kaley Branton, Annelies Anderson, Haley Lawrence and myself.
In just the past week of practice, I have seen things in each of these players that have my expectations running very high.
Sophomore Liz Balkcom has been unstoppable on the greens! She is putting the ball the best I have seen since her tenure here at Troy. During qualifying, she even had a round where she carded six birdies. If she keeps it up, she is sure to post some good numbers.
Junior Kaley Branton is playing well too. She fired the low round in qualifying on Tuesday, despite bogeying the last hole to shoot 72. She also told me that she has gotten a lot of her length back, which will definitely aide her in scoring well.
Sophomore Annelies Anderson caught my eye at practice last Sunday. I was watching her hit balls and I noticed how well she was striking the ball. She has also been playing very consistently. Hitting the ball as well as she is and playing with such consistency will definitely guide her in having a great tournament.
I have been most impressed with freshman Haley Lawrence. She exudes a great deal of confidence on the course, which is key when competing at the college level. Haley posted some great scores in qualifying and I expect her to post even lower scores on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday of next week.
As far as myself, being the lone senior, I have been spending a lot of time on my short game. I am hitting the ball pretty well, which will hopefully leading to scoring well. I just hope I can keep up with my teammates!
We have an advantage going into our season opener because it is at the Idle Hour Club, Liz's home course. Therefore, we will have a better knowledge of the course going into the first round. Liz also told me that her family has been busy recruiting people to come support the Trojans!
