Troy University golf coach Matt Terry announced today that a pair of area golfers have committed to join the Lady Trojan program this fall.
Haley Lawrence is a native of Montgomery and played at Prattville High School, where she is the first girl to have ever received a college golf scholarship. Caitlin Rohrbacker is a native of Ocala, Fla., and will be attending Troy as a Millennium Scholar.
“I am looking forward to having both Haley and Caitlin as a part of our program,” Terry said. “They are both outstanding young women who have a chance to be very good collegiate golfers.”
Lawrence has competed on the varsity golf team at Prattville since the seventh grade. This year she earned six top 10 finishes in eight events, placing second in tournaments four times. During her junior season she earned 10 top 10 finishes, including earning medalist honors at five events.
She earned All-Metro honors for Montgomery after both her sophomore and junior season and was an AHSAA All-State Tournament pick last spring.
Lawrence is the daughter of Adam and Susan Lawrence and has one sister, Shelby. Her dad is a Captain in the Montgomery Fire Department
Rohrbacher attended Vanguard High in the International Baccalaureate program and graduated with a 4.73 grade point average. She was a four-year golf letter winner in addition to being a three-year letter winner in softball and a two-year letter winner in weight lifting.
Rohrbacher helped lead her prep squad to three district titles and four county championships. She was named the 2007 Gainesville Junior Golf Association Player of the Year and was named Scholar Athlete of the Year at Vanguard High.
