Troy Finishes Fifth at Shootout

MURFREESBORO, Tenn. - The Troy University men's tennis team defeated Louisiana-Lafayette 4-2 in the fifth place match at the Sun Belt Shootout Sunday morning.
After dropping the first doubles match, the Trojans roared back and won at number two and three to capture the point. At number three, the team of Diego Martinez and Andrey Morozov defeated Louisiana-Lafayette's Murilo Martins and Stefan Hawkins 8-6 to even the scenario. With the doubles point up for grabs and the number two doubles on the court, the Trojans' team of Benjamin Chomette and Guilherme Sahadi defeated Louisiana-Lafayette's Jorge Delgado and Arlen Domoney, 8-4, to capture the point for Troy.
In singles play, the Trojans dropped the first two-if-the-first-three matches, allowing Louisiana-Lafayette to tie the score at 2-all with just three matches remaining on the court.
However, Morozov pushed the Trojans ahead by one point with a hard-fought 7-6, 7-5 over Louisiana-Lafayette's Delgado to put the match into the hands of Sahadi and Chomette to try and give the Trojans a fifth-place finish. Sahadi beat Chomette to the punch and clinched the match for the Trojans with a 6-4, 4-6, 6-1 victory over Louisiana-Lafayette's Janusz Conradi at number three.
