Trojans Split with FAU on Saturday

“We're really pleased with how our girls came out in a game where most are playing at FAU for the first time ? I couldn't have asked for more,” head coach Melanie Davis said.
”Unfortunately in the night cap, we saw a type of performance that has haunted us this season. We have to give some credit to FAU, they put a lot of balls in play and our infield didn't get it done.”
In game one Williams scattered five hits in her fifth complete game shutout of the season as she picked up her 20th victory.
Williams (7.0 IP, 5 H, 0 R, 10 K, 4 BB; now 20-9) worked out of multiple jams late in the game to keep her squad on top.

Game two was a back-and-forth battle between the Trojans (24-16, 9-5 SBC) and Florida Atlantic until the Owls picked up three runs in the bottom of the fifth inning to break a two-all tie.
The runs came off Williams (2.0 IP, 4 H, 3 R, 1 K, 0 BB) who had entered in relief, FAU (26-19, 8-3 SBC) added another run in the sixth inning. She was charged with the loss.

“I thought [Paige] did a fabulous job, unfortunately we couldn't provide the defense behind her to get any of our pitchers a win,”
The Trojans managed just four hits, and two of those came off the bat of Katie Taber (2-for-2, two RBI). Jessica Lyle and Paige also added hits.
Cassie Lassiter pitched the sixth inning for the Trojans, allowing one unearned run.
“Sunday's game is a very important game as we look to see how seeding for the tournament and the final standings of the conference shape up,”
