Trojans Fall to UALR in Sun Belt Shootout

MURFREESBORO, Tenn. - The Troy University men's tennis team fell to the University of Arkansas-Little Rock 4-0 in the opening match of the Sun Belt Shootout Saturday afternoon.
UALR was able to capture the doubles point by winning two of the doubles matches to jump ahead 1-0. The Troy team of Dai Edwards-Evans and Andrey Morozov fell 8-0 at number two to the UALR team of Marko Ballok and Igor Nikitin. At number three, the team of Guilherme Sahadi and Benjamin Chomette fell to the UALR team of Juan Carlos Nunez and German Perez, 8-4. The number one doubles match went unfinished due to the point being clinched by Arkansas-Little Rock.
In singles play, UALR's Edson Abrao captured the first point with a 6-3, 6-2 victory over Sahadi at number three; giving Arkansas-Little Rock a 2-0 lead. The lead was extended to 3-0 when Dorian Sovic defeated Troy's Morozov 7-5, 6-0 at number five; before Ballok defeated Bastain Maucher 4-6, 6-4, 6-1 to clinch the match for Arkansas-Little Rock.
Troy returns to action against the University of Louisiana-Lafayette Sunday morning at 8:30 am in the fifth place match.
