Troy Falls to South Alabama

MOBILE, Ala. - The Troy University women's tennis team had their four-match winning streak halted by 47th-ranked South Alabama 4-1 in a match halted by rain Thursday afternoon.
The Lady Jags took the doubles point by winning all three matches, taking an early 1-0 lead. South Alabama (16-3) won the doubles point after their number two and three teams won their matches. The number one team from Troy, Annabelle Bares and Rawia El Sisi dropped a 9-7 decision to South Alabama's Adrianna Solarova and Sylvanie Spangenberg; ranked 55th in the nation, after the doubles point was decided.
Troy (8-8) won their point when Mirte De Bakker claimed a 6-0, 6-0 victory over South Alabama's Erica Krisan at number three. The Lady Jags won at number one, five and six before the rains came in the Mobile area. They were leading at number four, but Bares was tied with Michaela Babicova at number two in the third set.
