Troy Heads to SBC Tournament

TROY, Ala. - The Troy University men's and women's tennis programs head to Monroe, La. this weekend for the 2008 Sun Belt Conference Tournament, beginning play on Friday morning.
The Trojan women take on Western Kentucky in the first round of the tournament, beginning at 8 am on the campus of Louisiana-Monroe. Troy is seeded fifth in the tournament, while the Lady Toppers are seeded 12th. The winner of the match will play against fourth-seeded Louisiana-Lafayette Friday evening at 6:30 pm. The meeting between Troy and Western Kentucky in school history.
Meanwhile, the Trojan men open the tournament as the seventh-seed and will play second-seeded South Alabama on Friday at 11:30 am. This will be the second time the two teams have met this season, with the Jags winning the first match.
"The conference tournament is a time to make up for two disappointing regular seasons," Troy coach Eric Hayes said. "This is the first time in five years we will go into the conference tournament not nationally-ranked. We just have to lace them up and try to win a championship."
The tournament begins on Friday and runs through Sunday.
