Troy Defeats MTSU at Home

TROY, Ala. - The Troy University women's tennis team defeated Middle Tennessee State University 4-3 Saturday afternoon to close out the regular season at the Lunsford Tennis Complex.
After losing the doubles point, the Trojans roared back to win four of the six singles matches to capture the victory. Middle Tennessee won the doubles point when their teams at number two and three were able to secure victories. The Trojans team of Rawia Elsisi and Annabelle Bares captured an 8-4 victory at number one.
In singles play, Elsisi captured a victory at number one over Middle Tennessee's Anne Silvestrom 6-2, 6-2; while her doubles teammate Bares picked up a 6-2, 6-3 victory at number two over Middle Tennessee's Stephanie Parkinson.
The Trojans' Mirte DeBakker fell at number three in straight sets to Claudia Szabo, while Stephanie Vieria earned another point for the Trojans with a 6-2, 6-3 victory at number four over Middle Tennessee's Marlene Chemin.
At number five, Leonie Guijt won the final point of the day for the Trojans when she recorded a 6-4, 6-4 victory over Andrea Herrera.
Troy now focuses their attention on the Sun Belt Conference Tournament which begins next week at Louisiana-Monroe.
