Rain Forces Softball Time Changes

TROY ? Rain moving through the Troy area on Saturday morning has forced time changes for all three games of the Sun Belt Conference series between Troy and North Texas.

The Trojans and Mean Green will meet for one game on Saturday at 5 pm and then play a doubleheader on Sunday at 1 and 3 pm.

While the games have been delayed in time, it in no way lessens their importance for both the Trojans and the Sun Belt Conference.

“We are well aware that seeding for the conference tournament that will be played here in less than a month will be greatly impacted by the play here in Troy this weekend,” Troy coach Melanie Davis said.

“This is a chance for us to pick up some games on FAU even though we lost the series to them because North Texas took two-of-three from them.”

Davis is hopeful that Troy's Thursday night loss to No. 2 Alabama will serve as a wake-up call to her squad.

“We hope that Alabama serves as great preparation for a tough, scrappy North Texas team. We overall are disappointed with our conference play at home this year,” she said.

“The kids have taken it harshly and are disappointed about how they have performed at home in the two previous conference series and are ready to reverse their fortune.”
