Williams (now 10-6) allowed only three hits with no walks. She struck out six MTSU batters.
“Following last night our entire team and staff were going through uncharted waters. We had never been through that in conference play before,” head coach Melanie Davis said.
“It's a testament to the character and strength of our young team to bounce back like they did.”
Kaitlin Kenney, hitting leadoff for the first time this season, roped a lead-off double to left centerfield to start things in the bottom of the first inning.
Kenney moved to third on a Kala Moore groundout and came around to score on a Heidi Johnson RBI single giving
The Trojans would pick up their final two runs of the game in the fifth inning with the top two hitters in the lineup again producing runs.
Kenney and Moore both reach base to lead off the inning, and both advanced into scoring position on a Johnson sacrifice bunt. The next two plays would score both in interesting fashion.
Jessica Lyle grounded sharply towards Middle Tennessee second baseman Ashley Cline and Cline threw toward home attempting to halt Kenney who was heading to score.

Courtney Davis stepped to the plate next and on the first pitch to her Lyle took off for second, drawing a throw from Milke.

Kenney finished the day 2-for-3 with two runs scored.
“[Kenney] coming out with the lead off double set the tone for our offense. We were able to get the lead early and take pressure off the defense,”
“We are glad to have Kenney back healthy and contributing.”
Lyle knocked in two more runs to give her a team-leading 15 RBI's on the season. Johnson also had an RBI.
Lindsey Vander Lugt took the loss for the Blue Raiders. She fell to 4-6 on the season.
