Trojan Men Fall to 52nd-Ranked Owls

TROY, Ala. - The Troy University Trojans dropped a key Sun Belt Conference match to 52nd-ranked Florida Atlantic University, 6-1, at the Lunsford Tennis Complex Saturday afternoon.
Troy (4-9, 0-3 SBC) lost the doubles point, dropping the matches at number two and number three. The Owls' team of Marc Abdelnour and Eddie Majcher defeated Benjamin Chomette and Andrey Morozov 8-6 at number two; before the team of Joe Cadogan and Lawrence Harradine won a hard-fought match at number three over Troy's Guilherme Sahadi and Dai Edwards-Evans, 9-7, claiming the point.
Although the Trojans lost the doubles point, the team of Bastain Maucher and Mario Silva teamed up for just the second time all season. They evened their overall record at 1-1 with a hard-fought 9-7 victory over Florida Atlantic's Olivier Sajous and Daniel Vardag at number one.
In singles play, Florida Atlantic won five of the six matches on the afternoon to claim the conference victory. The lone singles victory for the Trojans came at number four when Maucher defeated Cadogan in straight sets; 6-1, 6-3 to give the Trojans their lone point on the day. The victory brought Maucher's individual record ti 6-7, and he improved to 5-4 this season playing at number four singles.
