OXFORD, Miss. - It took an extra inning to decide the fate of Troy vs Ole Miss, but in the end the Rebels were too much for the Trojans as Troy fell 2-1 in the final game of the Red & Blue Classic.
Troy (11-9) led the entire game, taking the lead in the second inning when Courtney Davis scored on a Hillary Hughes sacrifice fly. Davis had reached base on a lead-off double.
Ashlyn Williams (now 9-5) shut-out the Rebels for six innings and had two outs in the seventh before surrendering the game-tying run. Williams finished the game with seven strike outs and four walks. She allowed two runs, only one earned.
Kala Moore paced the Trojans at the plate, going 2-for-2. Hughes had the lone RBI.
Troy is in action next on Tuesday at home as they play their first Sun Belt Conference games of the year. They will play a double-header with Middle Tennessee at 4 and 6 pm at the Troy Softball Complex. Admission to all home softball games is free.
