"Our staff is extremely pleased with the first day sweep on the road in conference play," head coach Melanie Davis said. Game One:
A five-run fifth inning that included a three-run home run by Heidi Johnson keyed
In the top of the fifth inning after a Paige single, Hammer bunted but the throw from
Hammer also reached base on the play and pinch hitter Tanya McLean drew a walk to load the bases with no outs.
Two quick
Hughes fouled an 0-2 pitch down the leftfield line, but when Brianna Love slid to make the catch the ball popped out of her glove back into fair territory scoring two runs and giving the Trojans a 2-0 lead.
On the next pitch Heidi Johnson ripped a home run deep into left centerfield to plate the two remaining base runners and vault to
Johnson (1-for-3) and Hughes (2-for-4) both finished the game with three RBI's.
Ashlyn Williams (now 12-7) got the win for
Williams walked the first batter she faced in the bottom of the third inning, but had the base runner erased when catcher Felicia Hammer made a snap throw to first base to pick off the runner.
The starter Williams then induced a groundout before Michelle Farrell-Fink reached on an error by
ULM picked up its first run in the bottom of the fifth and put two on with one out in the sixth for Baker but Williams got the strikeout and then a groundout to end the inning with Troy still on top 5-1.
McLean and Moore drew lead off walks to start the seventh inning but Kenney struck out after both runners had advanced on a wild pitch and then a passed ball.
Hughes followed up with a bunt single that scored pinch runner Katie Kolb and Moore moved to third. Next, Troy executed a delayed double steal with Moore taking home after Hughes drew the throw to second base giving Troy a 7-1 lead.

The Warhawks picked up a final run in the bottom of the seventh for the final deficit of 8-2.

Game Two:
It took just four batters for the Trojans to plate three runs in game two. Courtney Davis blasted a three-run home run to right field to score Hillary Hughes and Heidi Johnson giving
Katie Ely led-off the second inning with a double over the centerfielder Calli Baker's head, then
Kaitlin Kenney sacrificed both runners over and Hillary Hughes grounded out to the shortstop before Johnson drew a walk to load the bases and set the stage for
Ashlyn Williams got the nod to start game two and got herself into trouble in the second inning after two base hits and a walk sandwiched a pair of pop outs. She walked the next batter, Erica Darden to plate
Williams improved to 13-7 after three innings of work. She struck out five.
Jamie Liles followed suit, doubling to left centerfield to plate three Warhawks and close the gap to 7-4.
Rocky Paige got things started in the third inning with a single to leftfield, but Felicia Hammer lined out to the pitcher. Next, pinch runner Ashley Adkins slid under the tag on Ely's fielder's choice and
Kenney followed that with a single up the middle to plate Adkins and Hughes hit a sacrifice fly to left field to pick up another run for the Trojans.

After a Katie Kolb strikeout, Kenney walked to force in a run and then Hughes doubled to plate two and Johnson roped a double down the right field line to score two more and lengthen the
Hughes finished 2-for-3 with three RBI's and Johnson was 3-for-3 with four RBI's and one stolen base. Kenney was 1-for-2 with two RBI's and two runs scored.
Cassie Lassiter entered the game in the top of the fourth inning in relief of Williams and worked 1-2-3 innings in the fourth and fifth to finish the game.
She struck out one in two perfect innings.
