Trojans Power Through Day Two

Heidi Johnson's two-run walk-off home run gave
The home run was Johnson's second of the day and it drove in Courtney Davis to give
Louisville scored in the top of the eighth to take a 2-1 lead, but the Trojans were able to answer back when Hillary Hughes drove in Kala Moore who had been placed on second base because of the international tie-breaker rule.
The Cardinals (4-3) again broke the tie in the top of the ninth before Johnson's home run sealed the Trojan victory.
Johnson and Hughes were the only Trojans with multiple hits.
Williams tossed a complete game for
UL relief pitcher Kristen Wadwell (5.1 IP, 4 H, 4 R, 2 ER, 0 BB, 4 K) was saddled with the loss, dropping her to 2-2 on the season.
Stanfill allowed only one hit in three innings after getting the start. She struck out seven Trojans.
In
Williams (6.0 IP, 5 H, 1 R, 0 BB, 3 K; now 6-1) picked up her fourth victory of the tournament and second of the day.

A two-out rally in the fifth inning put the Trojans on top for good when Hughes doubled in
Next, Johnson added her third home run of the day, this time to left field. Her shot off the scoreboard also scored Hughes to give
Katie Taber added an insurance run in the sixth inning with her first home run of the year, a towering blast over the Samford scoreboard behind the leftfield fence.
The Bulldogs added a late run in the seventh inning with Jessica Owens scoring on a sacrifice fly.
