Troy Opens Play in Auburn Fall Classic

AUBURN, Ala. - The Troy Trojans opened play in the Auburn Fall Classic against 55th-ranked South Carolina, winning a doubles match against the Gamecocks in Flight One.
The doubles team of Bastain Maucher and Mario Silva (1-0) picked up an 8-6 victory over South Carolina's Diego Cubas and Ivan Machado (0-1). The Trojans dropped their other two doubles matches of the day.
In singles play, Maucher (1-0) claimed a hard fought three-set victory over South Carolina's Joe Veeder. After dropping the first set, Maucher came back in the second and third sets to claim a 2-6, 6-2, 6-1 victory.
