Lyle and Johnson Honored, Trojans Picked Third

In addition to the individual honors that were announced, the 2008 pre-season coach's poll was announced with
Louisiana-Lafayette finished in first place with 80 total points and eight of the nine first place votes. In addition, the Ragin' Cajuns tied WKU for the most players on the Preseason All-Sun Belt list as three players were honored including Holly Tankersley who was named the Preseason Player of the Year. Joining Tankersley on the list were pitcher Brittany Cuevas and outfielder Karli Hubbard.
Florida Atlantic was picked second in the poll finishing with 70 points and 1 first place vote. The defending Sun Belt champions finished eight points ahead of third place finisher,
WKU also had three athletes honored on the preseason All-Sun Belt team with Jennifer Kempf being named the Preseason Pitcher of the Year. In addition, Rachelle Boucher was honored at catcher and Rebecca Horesky was honored at third base. The Hilltoppers were voted to finish fourth in the Sun Belt racking up 46 points in the poll, just one point ahead of fifth place finisher
The Jaguars finished the poll with 45 points while also having two athletes recognized on the All-Sun Belt team. Jenny Stevens was honored at second base and Evelyn Pare was one of the four outfielders selected to the squad.
