Trojans Fall to South Carolina

COLUMBIA, SC - The Troy Trojans dropped their second match of the season, falling to 56th-ranked South Carolina 5-2 at the USC Indoor Fieldhouse Sunday afternoon.
Troy claimed their two victories in singles compeition when Guilherme Sahadhi defeated South Carolina's Johannes Pulsfort at number three; 6-3, 3-6, 6-3. The other victory for the Trojans came at number five when Ed Van Aerts defeated South Carolina's Chris Sheehan 7-6.
The Trojans dropped the doubles point when South Carolina (2-0) swept through the matches on the afternoon. The Trojans' team of Bastain Maucher and Benjamin Chomette fell to the team of Diego Cubas and Yevgeny Supeko 8-4 on court one, while the team of Mario Silva and Sahadhi fell 8-2 to South Carolina's Pedro Campos and Johannes Pulsfort on court two. The South Carolina doubles sweep was completed when the team of Jamie Cuellar and David Wolff defeated Troy's Dai Edwards-Evans and Andrey Morozov 8-2 on court three.
Troy also had a chance to win at number one singles when Chomette dropped a tough three-setter to Supeko; 6-1, 3-6, 6-2.
The Trojans return to action February 2 at home against Jacksonville State University.
