Trojans Top Kansas State in Georgia Invitational
ATHENS, Ga.-- The Trojans came out on top against Kansas State winning three out of four singles matches as they open their season this weekend.
Mirte De Bakker won three out of her four singles matches against Georgia, Mississippi State and Kansas State. DeBakker defeated Valeriya Makarycheva of MSU, 1-6, 6-4, 6-3. She overcame Georgia's Kelley Moore 6-1, 6-2.
Georgia's 45th-ranked Kelley Hyndman defeated Troy's 65th-ranked Annabelle Bares 6-2, 6-3.
The Trojans captured five singles victories last weekend at the 2008 Georgia Invitational.
"The purpose of going to Georgia was to get matches against ranked teams to get us ready for this weekend," head coach Eric Hayes said.
The Trojans travel to 30th-ranked South Carolina and 10th-ranked Clemson this weekend to kick off their matches.
