Trojans Open Season at Ole Miss Classic

The Troy University women's tennis team will open its fall season on Friday at the Fifth Annual Ole Miss Fall Classic in Oxford, Miss.
The tournament, being played at the Palmer/Salloum Tennis Center, will include some of the top players in the nation in both singles and doubles draws.
“This tournament will be a great opportunity for our players to see where they are heading into a new season,” Trojans tennis coach Eric Hayes said. “Our players will have a chance to square off with some of the best players in the country.”
Play begins Friday at 8 a.m., with doubles. Saturday's action also begins at 8 a.m. Sunday's finals will start at 9:30 a.m., with doubles, followed by the singles at 11 a.m. The tournament will include four flights of singles and two flights of doubles.
In addition to Troy and host Ole Miss, the field includes SEC teams Georgia and Mississippi State as well as Arkansas State, Jacksonville State, Louisiana-Lafayette, Memphis, South Alabama, Southern Illinois and Southern Mississippi.
The team of Caroline Jouanin and Marina Arres will open play at 8 a.m. Friday with a doubles match against Shannon Rogers and Ali Blackett of Southern Miss in the doubles Red Draw. In the doubles Blue Draw, Troy's tandem of Annabelle Bares and Stephanie Viera will face will face another team from Southern Miss, Sherry Price and Brittany Serret at 9 a.m.
The third Troy duo, Rawia Elsisi and Leonie Guijt, will face the team of Sabine Tsala and Jessica Flannery from Southern Illinois, also at 9 a.m. in the Blue Draw.
Viera and Jouanin, who are seeded third and fourth, respectively, in the White Draw will start singles play at 12:30 p.m. Viera will face Martina Ce of Southern Illinois while Jouanin will face Rone van Wyk of Arkansas State.
Arres will open play in the Silver Draw at 12:30 p.m. with a match against Anne Tilton of Southern Illinois.
Elsisi, who is seeded third in the Blue Draw, will open singles play at 3:30 p.m. against Naoko Ueshima of Georgia. Bares will also compete in the Blue Draw, facing Julie Mazinova of Louisiana-Lafayette at 3:30 p.m.
Guijt will play in the Red Draw and will face top-seeded Elna DeVilliers of Mississippi State at 3:30 p.m.
