Golf Adds Graduate Assistant Coach

TROY, Ala. ? Troy University's head golf coach, Matt Terry, has announced that John Owens will join the Trojans program as a graduate assistant coach for the 2007-08 season.
Owens played collegiate golf at Midand Lutheran College in Freemont, Neb., where he was a two-year All-Conference performer. He earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Education in 2005.
“John is a great addition to our program. In his short time as a head coach he has already proven that he lead a team. In his first week on the job he is already shown some of his abilities.”
Following his playing career, Owens was named assistant golf coach at his alma mater in 2005, working with both the men's and women's teams, before being promoted to head coach in October of the same year.
He was twice named NAIA Region II Coach of the Year and was named Great Plains Athletics Conference Coach of the Year in 2007 after leading the men's team to back-to-back NAIA National Tournament appearances.
At Troy, Owens will work with both the men's and women's teams.
