#2 Alabama Overcomes Trojans

Angela Lopez started for the Trojans (36-15, 14-7 SBC) and held Alabama hitless for the first two frames as she struck out one. She allowed only two hits in that period.
The Crimson Tide (47-4, 18-4 SEC) kicked off the scoring plating two runs in the third inning on a Lauren Parker solo home run and a Dani Woods RBI double.
Troy countered in the top of the fourth slapping back-to-back hits by Heidi Johnson and Amanda Ragans but Johnson was picked off at second base to end the threat.
Stacey Dwyer made a diving catch in right field to rob Kelley Montalvo of a hit to begin the bottom of the fourth as Michelle Grinage entered the game at pitcher and recorded all three outs to conclude the fourth.
The Trojans' best chance of the game came when Stacey Dwyer reached on a throwing error by Potter with two outs. Johnson then singled to shallow left field.
Courtney Davis followed up with a single to left field, loading the bases and bringing Amanda Ragans to the plate.
Ragans struck out swinging on a 2-2 pitch to end the inning.
Grinage (2.1 IP, 1 H, 1 ER, 1 BB, 1 K; No Decision) allowed a lead-off walk then got Montalvo to fly out to right field before being lifted for a re-entering Angela Lopez with one out in the bottom of the sixth.
Lopez induced a fielder's choice ground out by Brittany Rogers before walking Jordan Praytor and Parker to load the bases.
Pinch hitter Alex Blewitt then doubled over left fielder Amanda Ragans head to drive in all three Alabama base runners making the score 5-0 in favor of the Crimson Tide.
Burford popped to second base to end the inning.
Troy was unable to mount any offense in the top of the seventh as they stranded two base runners against Alabama reliever Allison Moore.
Johnson finished the game two-for-three. She was the only Trojan with multiple hits.Lopez (3.2 IP, 6 H, 4 ER, 3 BB, 1 K) suffered the loss dropping her to 17-5 on the season.
The Trojans will return to action on Saturday as they travel to Birmingham to face Birmingham-Southern in non-conference double-header.
