Trojans Top Louisiana-Lafayette to Advance to Semifinals

Troy (13-7) lost the doubles point to begin the match but rebounded with singles to take the win.
Freshman Fabiana Gouvia fell to Angela Dangond to begin singles play but after allowing ULL to take a 2-0 lead the Trojans took control.
Senior Claudia Strauss won her match with Clemence Remy 6-2, 6-4 to put the Trojans within one, 2-1.
Then freshman Stephanie Vieria defeated Chanell Meijer 6-2, 6-2 to tie the score at two.
Sophomores Rawia Elsisi and Caroline Jounia each won their matches to give Troy the win. Elsisi defeated Tammy Day 3-6, 6-3, 6-3.
Jounia then clinched the match with her win over Laura Martelli. Jounia won the first set 7-6 (8-6) and then dominated in the second set winning 6-1.
The Troy women will face Florida International in the semi-finals of the Sun Belt Conference Championships at 1:30 p.m. on Saturday. Information on the results will be posted as soon as it is available.
