Troy Defeats Auburn, 3-1

The Trojans (15-5) used a two-run first inning double from Rocky Paige to take a 2-0 lead early in the game.
Auburn's Sara Ghezzi doubled, plating Lauren Walton for the Tigers' lone run of the contest in the top half of the third inning.
Troy would answer in the bottom portion of the third with Stacey Dwyer scoring on a Jessica Lyle double to left field.
Rocky Paige started the game for the Trojans pitching three innings while allowing only one unearned run on two hits and striking out three.<:P>Holly Currie started the game for Auburn (11-12) and was charged with loss after allowing three runs in two and one-third innings.
Michelle Grinage entered the game in relief of Paige, pitching one inning, allowing only one hit. She was credited with the win, her third of the season.
Angela Lopez closed out the game pitching a scoreless final three innings to earn her first save of the season.
I'm extremely happy for the seniors who have battled Auburn for four years and are now able to go out with a win at home,” Head Coach Melanie Davis said.
Davis was pleased with the contributions of several players.
Rocky Paige was huge for us coming in as a true freshman and working out of several jams.
[Paige] also had the huge two-run double in the first inning that took the pressure off our whole team.”
Stacey Dwyer and Jessica Lyle also had a couple of big plays combining for the insurance run in the third,” she said.
The Trojans will make their 2007 Sun Belt Conference debut as they take on Middle Tennessee for a three game series on Saturday and Sunday.
